Today I did not see anyone in the line-up from the cliffs. I thought to myself:
"I will be alone out there.....soul surfer", "No one but me and the sharks!" Finally all alone.
and I started down the trail leading to the sea.
I got there on an incoming tide, and as soon as I put my stuff down to ready my next exclusive excursion.......a bunch of surf bandits came cruising down the cliff face and parked right next to me!!!!!
My soul-free lineup was now crowded and tripping and falling all over each other! I was bummed.
I said: "Naaaaaaaa!", and cursed my world, then got really HOT, then calmed down [anger blows out the lamp of mind]. Sometimes you just have to put on blinders, so I stuck my pole in my mouth and paddled hard through the line-up and made my way out past the breakers, avoiding the cattle drive on the inside.
No fish today. On my way out I saw a big Corbina and a shovel-nose guitarfish, about 6-7 pounds, scared him off, but wow! They were only in about a foot of water! I could have jumped on them. So close.
I learned today, to have patience. I also learned to have some fun.
Sometimes you get to watch a big fish.....not worry about catching it.
